Taliban. Who are they?

Last week I have witnessed the conference on Afghanistan. Till this days I had idea that I know who are that guys who are popular to world as Taliban. But in that conference took part fellows with the most deep information (among the humankind) about them. At the end of discussion I came to a conclusion that we don't know who are the Taliban, what is this, and how they are operating. They say Taliban are ordinary afghan guys,

but others said they not peaceful.


Some of them says that they pushtuns, but one guy from Afghanistan said that they are NOT pushtuns. And so on...
Is there anybody among the people who knows who are the Taliban?

    Taliban they are mostly of uneducated Pushtus, but yet not all Pushtus belong to Taliban yet they were called Al Mujahideen who fought against the Soviet Union which was there to aid and help the communist Government of Afghanistan at the time.

    Needless to mention, but the Mujahideen at the time were aided by the Americans, but after the Soviet-Afghan war, the Mujahideen have stayed in power and go more organised as a government and have formed what is called Taliban at the time.

    Famous Taliban Character is the world renounced Osama Bin Laden, who was fighting against the Soviet among Al Mujahideen.

    This information is what I know, if you want me to have a research on them I shall :).

    Have you ever seen somebody from Taliban? What kind of opinion do you have concerning their program?

    I have never anyone from Taliban, and my opinion of them is that they are what is ruining Afghanistan and sending it back to the dark ages.

    Basically they are criminals.
